Racist attacks on Asians over the spread of Covid 19

The COVID-19 pandemic sends chills down your spine, but what is more alarming is the thought of getting assaulted simply because you are an Asian.

Today the Asian community in many parts of the US has been targeted by some racist thugs and mobsters over baseless fears of them being the root cause of the Corona virus.

This has caused the community to remain in anxiety and stress and at such a time when there exists an alarming pandemic, the situation only gets worse. In a report by New York Times, over two dozen Asian-Americans are afraid to go out shopping for basic commodities or leaving their houses alone. Many Asian-Americans have also faced gruesome violence.

The US president Donald Trump's remark of the Chinese virus has incited a few individuals. This isn’t the first time that people are getting influenced. For example, when President Trump made the remark ‘build a wall’, we witnessed the rise of anti-latino and anti-immigrant sentiments and attacks.

However more recently, President Donald Trump has urged people to protect the asians via social media platforms.

There are still cases of Chinese xenophobia. Gun shop owners have witnessed the rise in the purchasing of arms by Asians to protect themselves.

We certainly hope that people become sensitive and act responsibly, now more than ever
