And He took a cup and when He had given thanks He gave it to them saying "Drink this, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I shall not drink again of the fruit of the vine until I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom." - Gospel of Matthew(26:27-29)
The Holy Grail. The chalice that Jesus and his disciples drank from during the last supper. The vessel that was supposedly worshipped in the Holy Supplical Church in Jerusalem. It has been portrayed in many different ways throughout medieval literature. It is believed to have healing properties, and to provide eternal life to those who partake in it. But there is a far more sinister meaning to it as well. Many individuals theorize that it signifies the wife of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and points towards the location of her body. But it doesn't end there. Many believe that Jesus had a child and that His bloodline continues to this day and attest that the Church has done everything in its substantial power to ensure that no one ever hears of or find the carriers of the bloodline, for it would discredit and disprove the entire base of Christian ideals and the religion’s standing as a whole.
For Christians, the vessel is regarded as holy as it is the one in which the first Communion was held, the Last Supper, mere hours before He was crucified. It is the only item that is mentioned in the Bible regarding the last supper, simply called “The Cup” at times.
And so the question arises - Will we ever know the truth behind the Holy Grail and Mary Magdalene?
