Youngsters sporting cardboard cutouts of the German constitution chanted: “End the corona dictatorship!” Few wore masks, and those that did came with slogans like “Merkel’s muzzle.” might sound crazy. The world has witnessed many crazy protests and yes the protests happening in Germany might sound like one.

The AfD party which is Germany,s extreme right ing party and the party known for its noisy nationalist movements has found a goldmine amidst this pandemic. The party is trying to gather support for the upcoming elections by using the job losses and the ill economic condition protests. There are over 10000 demonstrations right now taking place across Germany. What is scarier is the future of these protests , the Afd party has a history of taking up protests and mass demonstrations. There are speculations that this protest against jobless and the dire economic situation might become like the one in 2015 PEDGIA - a protest against the Islamization of the west ,where thousands of marchers came onto streets to protest. This type of situation is extremely undesirable especially when we have such a situation where there is a pandemic and social distancing rules must be followed. Although the court ruling permitted these protest if they adhere to the social distancing norms, But the real question is if the economic situation deteriorates over time what level of agitation will we witness then and Germany  having reported 177827 cases, will it have a tough time or will the norms be followed

What will be the result?

Apart from that, What the people protesting and the parties need to understand is that are they willing to risk the lives of many to pursue their petty and selfish political interests. Although democratically and constitutionally they have the right to protest, they need to explore other ways to get their concerns across to the government. The parties supporting these demonstrations must take precedence from opposition parties from around the world who are working in close harmony along with the government although their economies are equally in a bad shape.
